Job Description

1.         Take the responsibility for Membership recruitment and renew through introduction and/or upgrade excellent items with high quality and great Member value.

2.         Understand and implement item driven business model, develop differentiation for market and implement category and subcategory plans that align with company initiatives. Category development, seasonal item, thematic promotion, tab and new club, co-operation with Ops, Logistics, Marketing and other relevant depts. on execution of the plan, review and analyze sales report to monitor and identify opportunity and make decision to achieve financial budget on sales, margin and inventory control.  For product development, the Merchant should have understanding from raw materials, manufacture and quality control in whole process, and control cost change as well. Comprehensive understanding on market trends, and utilize to product development.

3.         Fully understand Membership business model, monitor and identify cost components and trends by reviewing market data, competitors, members survey, utilizing supplier resources and attending trade shows to evaluate category performance and set up category development strategy to meet members’ needs. Make reasonable judgments and decision on item’s pricing, replenishment, package and PDQ, space allocation, display and speed to market on new item.

4.         Achieve the greatest value and lowest cost for membership. Optimizing cost structure to carry out effective supplier resources management and periodically conduct sales plan and performance review to make sure Sam’s Club get supplier’s guarantee of quality, production, on-time delivery, in-stock; and responsible for communicating inventory demand to maximize manufacturing efficiencies. Identify, develop and foster productive relationships with our suppliers to support Sam’s development base on domestic supplier resources; provide appropriate solution and make decision when issues arise.

5.         Considering saving cost for operations, continuously monitor sales and supply chain in Omni-channel, find out root courses of problems to simplify and efficient work.

6.         Motivating others and proper scheduling of Merchandising Specialist’s working hours. Give clear instruction, review and evaluate performance to develop Merchandising Specialist.
